Hey, every wondered what the dopest incarnation of space exploration is? In Zambia, a space program was started by Edward Festus Mukuka Nkoloso and then abandoned, and 20 years afterwards photographer Cristina De Middel used its history as inspiration for a photoseries.

The series is very Wes Anderson – stylized and oddball – and was later turned into a book and a film.

Fast forward to today, and nascent filmmaker Frances Bodomo has created another film about the Afronauts from the pov of the young head astronaut Matha Mwambwa; it was an official selection of the 2014 Sundance film festival.
